Almost always. Enough that I can say always.
We shared a kitchen/laundry. I'd usually leave my bedroom open whenever cooking something quick or running laundry, but it was otherwise closed.
The there of them kept theirs closed too, even on the occasions that we hung out together in the communal living room. Only time I even really saw one of their rooms was when my pothead/dealer room mate would invite me in for a hit off his new bong or something.

When i had roommates my door was ALWAYS closed because i didnt trust them or their friends. But when Wolfz and i were roommates (before we got together) i always left my door open unless i was dressing or sleeping, because i trusted him. Plus he had a load of stuff in one of the cupboards in my room, so he would go in my room periodically anyway..

Usually only when asleep or getting dressed. Occasionally if I didn't want to be bothered (though that rarely worked).

These are interesting results. From my experience the couple people I've lived with were similar to the poll results, granted I imagine most the people on this board tend to be more private and introverted. I live with a girl I knew in college that I wasn't close friends with and my door is only closed when I sleep. I don't really care if someone sees me in my boxers, to me it's no different than being at a beach. She tends to keep her door closed most of the time, which I thought was odd and seemed a bit stand offish to me. To me keeping your door closed most the time shows distrust and having no interest in interacting with your roommates. I've lived with people I didn't trust so I understand the idea of closing the door when I'm not there.

Maybe she's tired of seeing you in your boxers.

the door indicates how willing i am to interact. it's usually open. i've been living with around 5 roommates for like 4 years and only one of them didn't understand the concept.

It was usually closed, but that's due more to climate/noise. If anyone wanted to come in when it was closed, they knew all they had to do was knock and come in.
