When it first happened on PPV, I wasn't sure what I saw. I had to rewind it.
Many are calling it one of the best KOs ever and certainly a candidate for KO of the year.
Poor Etim, KO'd before he hit the floor and made a funny face to boot.

doesn't say much for the skill of the guy who got hit either. a roundhouse like that is one of the most telegraphed moves you can do, if you aren't already stunned getting hit with one like that makes you look like a dope.

The thing is, if you anticipate the kick and duck, you could be wrong and lean right into one meant for your abdomen (which is a more common kick in MMA).
That was a perfect storm of a kick. Perfect situation, perfect spacing and a perfect incorrect reaction by the opponent.

the minute the guys head turns that far around you should know whats coming and a duck or weave of just a few inches is enough to avoid it. he planted that thing perfectly...that guy must have suffered a complete brainfart cause he reacted like he was blocking a roundhouse and you just don't do that for two reasons, one is the momentum is too great and two the angle of the kick is different and by design hooks around a block of that sort. you just don't use your arms to block that kinda thing, you get the hell out of its path and then nail the guy as he recovers his footing or move in real fast and take him to the ground in the middle of it.
just read another article, apparently this is the first ever UFC KO by spinning heel kick.
