Obama is favored but it is a long way out. Romney, if he is the nominee, polls pretty well on how people think he's handle the economy. His problem primarily is zero charisma or even a perception that he has human emotions. Don't take any polls seriously until 2-3 weeks after both conventions.

Republicans should be in love with Obama.
He extends huge tax cuts, keeps dividends taxed at 15%, passes payroll tax cuts, made concessions every step of the way during the debt fiasco until it was basically 80% republican demands being met, and last but not least... if the economy stays sour or goes sour, you can blame it on the democratic president.
