Wow, I don't think I'd describe Jay-Z as the Michael Jordan of rap. But yeah, I kinda get what you're saying.

I definitely don't mean skill-wise, but everything else fits.

I wish he'd just stop f'king "rapping" already. Or learn to actually rap. He's effing horrible. He is so f'king monotonous.

Jay Z used to be good, hardly anybody could kick the multi-syllabic rhymes and switch up flows like him. But age catches up to most people and he's not as good anymore. I think rappers should retire when they hit 40. Enough is enough.

Tech N9ne is 40...you think he should retire?

I wonder if that includes the N-WORD. His daughter, she might be offended by that word too.

Yeah, ok I was generalizing. But many rappers don't tend to stay hungry into their old age. Nas came out with two classic albums then gradually faded away. Same happened to AZ, Snoop Dogg, Coolio, 50 cent and many others. Jay Z is still relevant due more to his mogul and entrepreneurial activities rather than still being relevant as a rapper. In the rap world, the great rappers either die young or their skills gradually dissipate. It's rare for a rapper to put out quality for years after they blow up.

I think their rhymes just get stale. Rap moves fast. Tough to stay on top of the game for long.

50 cent was once the next big thing when his mixtape Power of a Dollar was generating buzz in the underground. He was hungry and impetuous. Then he dropped Get Rich or Die Tryin' and blew up mainstream, had a highly popularized beef with Ja Rule where he basically ended Ja's career, had a successful partnership with Eminem and Dr. Dre, made many hit songs and released a few records that were critically acclaimed. Now he's kinda faded away.

He had a 10% share of the company when Coke bought it, and it's been rumored he received between $60-100 million
