TL;DR:
Representative Zoe Lofgren writes to the internet community asking them to call/write/email their Senators before Tuesday the 24th and ask them to vote NO on the Motion to Proceed on PIPA. Currently only 22 Senators have come out in opposition of PIPA, but we need 41. Because of the drastic measures that exist in PIPA, any Motion to Proceed would be detrimental and there is a chance some really bad legislature would make it to the books. One point to stress (beside the obvious threat to our civil liberties and tech sector jobs) is the fact that there are alternative bills such as the OPEN Act are much more reasonable and not as draconian in nature which they can support to appear strong on piracy.

I agree in principal, but you can't correct this issue overnight. Send them an email sympathizing with them via the OPEN Act for now, then boot them out when their time as a Senator is up for grabs.
