i heard about this yesterday. wondered if a previous resident had left them but your article states he built had it built.
From the article: "They doused the flames, and were checking for hidden pockets of flame behind the walls by pulling down panels of sheet rock, when the magazine fell from behind one of the panels, State Police spokesman Trooper Christopher Kay said."
Do you have any idea the amount of sheer garbage that contractors will leave behind the walls of houses they are building, either due to laziness or (perhaps in this case) because they didn't want to get caught with it? I knew someone who had a house built and they decided a year later to knock out one of the interior walls for some remodeling, and they found fast food wrappers, old burgers/fries, cigarette butts, and a bunch of other trash inside the walls.
And it's not just the walls either. In the subdivision we lived in just a few years ago, we watched the builders just throw rebar and cement bricks and other trash into empty lots and simply cover it over with dirt and sod. I never had to dig up my yard for any reason, but I could only imagine what I might have found.
