That's kinda the great thing about being a human, we can learn to do new things whenever we want to.

Boy, aren't you optimistic. If I was a betting man, which I am, I'd bet that years down the line you will have a beloved family pet and not a well trained service dog.
I've had 3 dogs and with each one the intent was to train them. Family is 0/3 on that. Training takes a ton of patience and i'm just talking about stuff like don't bark and behave. not the kind of stuff you're talking about with fetching and all the stuff service dogs are supposed to do.
