What happens if you've gone out on 2-3 dates with someone or maybe its only been like a month or two. Basically the relationship is pretty new but then your girl/boyfriend gets news that s/he is terminally ill. Do you stick by them even though its relatively new? Its different when you've been going out for a year or so. But when its new is it awkward to back out or do you stand by them.
Personally, I would probably stick by them but thats just because I dont like to walk away when someone is suffering. I might not consider myself their boyfriend anymore but i would definitely label myself as a friend who is there to help them.

At that length of dating, I would leave.
I have still not seen how long this superbowl ticket couple were dating.

It would depend on the state of the relationship. If I'm looking for reasons to stay then that's a bad sign and a good reason to leave. If I've been thinking up that point that I really want to spend more time with them, then why stop? If I'm looking for someone to spend the rest of my life with and and think they're it, only to find out this new information, then I'd have to have a long talk with them.

in a best case scenario im going assume that the person who got diagnosed with a terminal illness would be strong enough to be like "Hey i know we've only been going out for a bit so its okay if you dont want to go out anymore" or something like that.

Taking your words exactly, 2-3 dates,*or even 1-2 months, assuming no prior friendship or previous relationship, not at all. That is far too early to take on such a huge burden and it would be to on someone dating them.
Now I would not make it obvious: "Hey, I do not want to date you anymore because of your health.", but I would become conveniently unavailable.

There's nothing wrong with you. I think it's great that you would want to continue to be part of their support system while not necessarily being their boyfriend. The world needs more people who care and less people that are self-centered.
