Oh, I see my mistake. Old/early eyes. FISHING!!!! Well that is a whole different concept.
I get the 2 rods for fishing, but 3 holes? Is that an ice fishing thing?

ice fishing is close to polar bear hunting. to hunt polar bears you make a big hole in the ice and pour green peas around it. when the bear comes to take a pea you kick him in the icehole.
