and now I'm quoting Spaceballs in my critique of someone's essay.
“Good Essays Have Good Titles.†(pg47) The title of this essay is “Learning to Live in the Present Moment†which to me is redundant. I would prefer that the title be either “Learning to Live in the Present†or “Learning to Live in the Momentâ€, as both are common phrases in their own right, but mashed together it feels a bit like saying “ATM Machineâ€. The scene from the movie “Spaceballsâ€(Brooks, 1987) also comes to mind where they’re watching the the current scene unfolding and Dark Helmet is trying to figure out what moment in time they’re currently in.
“Col Sanders- " a see see sir we're at now, now. Everything that's happening now is happening now.
Dark Helment: Go back to then!
Col Sanders: We missed it.
Dark Helment: When?
Col Sanders Just now!
Dark Helment: When will then be now?
Col Sanders: SOON!â€
I feel that this essay is much like a Mel Brooks joke, which it shouldn’t be, as it’s a serious topic. As Marius suggests, “Many titles have a colon in the middle.â€(pg47) the first gives a fanciful title, the second explains the nature of the work. For this essay I might suggest a title along the lines of “Moments: Learning to Live in the Present.â€

English 101, I very much dislike writing essays within MLA format citing page numbers in text etc. I wish the class wasn't required for my degree, as I feel it's completely unnecessary since we don't take any other classes that require any kind of essay writing or report writing at all.
I also hate suffering through the writing of most of my classmates, who can't even figure out when to use a comma.

English is easy. Pretty much anything that has nothing to do with math is easy...

I'd rather do math, where something is either right or wrong, there is no public opinion that makes something ok to do or not.

But with math, if you do step 2 out of 15 steps wrong, the whole thing is wrong.
With English, nothing is ever wrong as long as you argue it competently.
