There are even sects of the church that pray to Mary. /boggle

The main church prays to Mary. What do you think a Hail Mary, is?

I was under the impression that not all actually "worship Mary" in the sense I was trying to get at (effectively a 4th member of the trinity, so to speak). None of the Catholics I know personally pray to Mary with the expectation that she will somehow make anything happen on their behalf. It's an admittedly small sample size, but I was under the impression that "Mary worship" was not universally accepted by Catholicism as a whole (my understanding was from at least 15 years ago, so I'm not sure if that has changed).

It is wise to question all idols.

From what I've seen, Mary is prayed to as someone who would be able to help get God to listen to what a person was praying about. A lot like saying, "Hey, you have some status with the big guy, let him know X for me, please."

Still rather silly, from a protestant perspective, but it doesn't elevate her to anywhere close to being part of the trinity.

It's either a football play or a song by Tupac.
