MSS, I don't mean to be rude here. But be sure to avoid talking about the girl in NY and how much you love her despite not being with her. If you are looking to move on with someone new do so wholeheartedly, and let her go.
Having those lingering feelings will only hurt the new girl and in the long run screw with you as well.
I'm sure this is obvious though

he doesn't have "issues". He seems to be a very genuine person from what I can tell. It's not my place to go into details, but long story short the NY girl apparently can't understand genuinely nice people.
