I have to wonder how much of this is a serious wiring problem or a culture produced problem, most likely through our media & social culture.

Its like, most of our other good and bad behaviors, a combination of both nature and nurture. People are born with a propensity for good and evil naturally but then society steps in and lights the fuse to either side.
