Peyton will not stay, it would be financial retardation for their cap if they kept him.

I have no idea who the Packers will take in the first round because Teddy doesnt draft based on needs he takes whoever the best player available is regardless of position. I do know their number one need is a outside pass rusher though.

Other needs are O-line spots.

It's not completely impossible to sign them both.

The rookie payscale basically means that rookies make pennies compared to what they had been making over the last 5-6 years.

Peyton would have to restructure. that only happens if a better deal isnt out there. Look if Peyton somehow healthy then this is a once in a lifetime chance for a team like the jets or ravens teams that are on the cusp of winning it all but dont have a qb. Problem I see is this 1. the guy is 36 2 no one has came back from that injury 3. the surgery he had is an unknown it is new so no way of knowing. 4 it takes a year or two for a qb to usually learn a system and the timing for his offense.

I dont see it as a good investment getting him or even keeping him if it means you cant draft Luck. You wont get another chance at a Luck type player.

two ways to look at that...
1. lots of hyped up players turn into busts...Leaf.
2. heard the same thing about a college QB before...Manning.

either way...there WILL be a hyped up bust, and there WILL be a hyped up star.

It not impossible to sign both, it'd just be stupid cap wise. Its not the yearly salaries that would kill them, its the 28 million dollar bonus Peyton is due in a month. If they dont cut him that prorates against their cap numbers for years. If they drafted Luck and payed him max #1 pick money under the rookie payscale they are hit 58 million or so against the cap. Way too much for one position. It'd be really really dumb.

this would really depend on how much rebuilding they will be doing. Got to think they would cut some other players if they kept Peyton so they could sit luck a year or two while they rebuilt the team around Lucks skill. Green Bay was able to do it with Favre and Rodgers. Sure Rodgers didn't get number 1 overall pick money but it can still be done for a year if Peyton were to restructure his contract.

Can't wait! The draft used to be Detroit's Super Bowl so it will be weird to pick so low..

Detroit's needs are definitely in the secondary, linebacker, and O-line areas. Probably a DE too if they can't pay for Cliff Avril to come back. Honestly, just go BPA (best player available) in those categories for each round and call it a day. Stock up on the D and we're good to go.

Browns-

assuming they resign Hillis and Dqwell Jackson

they need a #1 WR...someone with supergrip hands ...fortunately the 1st round is littered with prospects here

they need a good right tackle ....there are a lot to choose from in this draft especially in the late 1st and early 2nd round

they need a star pass rusher DE...hopefully we can pick up Mario Williams in FA

we choose 4/22/37 but i would love it if we could pull off a trade like last year with atlanta...and trade back while getting slew of picks

one thing i am absolutely against is drafting RG3 under any circumstance(or any QB for that matter aside from a later round backup)....i will especially rampage like godzilla on pms if they trade up to grab him...the level of destruction i will wreak will be epic if this happens...it would certainly cause me to swear off supporting the browns for many years if not permanently

I think just about everyone has concluded that Luck will be the #1 overall, now it's just a matter of will it be the Colts taking him there and what will happen with Peyton. The jury is still out on whether or not Luck will be a monumental bust.

I've been saying all along that this is ALL hype. He is young (JR, right?) and hasn't done squat on an NFL field. Not saying he won't be good, but all this "once in a lifetime QB" talk is nonsense.
