If you want to see some really cool "hermit" type survival stuff, look up Richard Proenneke. He went off to live in the remote Alaskan interior as a hermit in a cabin he built at age 52, and lived there for the next 30 years, only leaving occasionally to visit family in the lower 48. There was a documentary made about him called "Alone in the Wilderness" which was just awesome if you like that sort of thing.


As for Dual Survival, I enjoy the show, but Cody I think his name is, the guy with the bare feet, would piss me the eff off if I had to deal with him regularly. I have no issues with his wilderness survival acumen, but I think his whole shorts and bare feet deal is just too eccentric.

Out of the Wild: The Alaska Experiment and Out of the Wild: Venezuela were pretty damn good.
