Just got back from it and thought it was a decent action film.

Sure the acting was wooden, they Are REAL navy seals, not actors. And the plotline is contrived, but of course where it excelled was in the action sequences showing what the military elite has to go through everytime they go out into the field.

I didn't see it as a recruitment movie, nor propoganda, but I think the overall feel I took from it was to help drive more respect for our military members.

I finished the novelization a day or two ago. I'll probably see it this weekend.

I just saw one small clip in the commercial that showed a guy running and sliding on his knees into position. That is real tactics they use? Seems like a great way to injure yourself doing something stupid when there is plenty of ways for them to get injured.

Dont worry I will give my opinion anyways.
The PvP MMO is NOT a "niche" market, Mythic is just a "niche" company.

Yeah, that part was like, sure. And I am sure some parts are overdramatized, but the tactics when clearing a building/taking a building was cool to see.

And, the seals do where hardened knee pads, so that might actually be a good technique when being fired upon with automatic fire, change location and position quite fast. ( I am not a navy seal, so honestly have no clue.)

Good point about the knee pads.

I've pulled the maneuver many times in training. No injuries incurred... its not something you plan or actually practice, just happens while you dive for cover and try to position yourself to return fire.

Fair enough, I just imagine sliding into a piece of concreted rebar or something substantially stable that rips your knee caps off.

Yeah, I know, that was covered already and they will help a lot, but as I said you go sliding full force into a 3-5 inches concreted piece of jagged rebar and that still may not help much. At the very least it is going to hurt like a sob.

Just got back from it...thought it was pretty cool.

It was dumbed down a lot for obvious reasons...but a lot of it was authentic as far as basic infantry tactics (don't know about SEALs tactics.) Movement, hand and arm signals, lingo, room clearing, etc.

They overdid a few things just so show off gadgets, like using the visible laser (the red dot laser) from the PEQ-15 at night...I would imagine SEALs don't actually do that, because standard grunts don't...there is an infared setting on the PEQ so you can only see the laser through nightvision.

The ending was kinda Call of Duty'ish. All in all I thought it was good.
