the internet knows that too. Wikipedia knows that. Everyone always scoffs at Wikipedia but you know what? Wikipedia knows a lot. And it even cites its sources at the bottom.

Not being able to keep focused on tasks like reading is a symptom of ADD/ADHD, but unless it manifests in multiple spheres of your life (with friends, at school, at work, etc) and in other ways it's safe to say you just don't like studying. If you can, without much difficulty, read the books you do like (like history or sports) then don't fret. You just lack discipline... or do fret. Or just study.

Most math books are written poorly but they are still useful tools. You just have to listen in class so you have an idea what you are going into.

many kids with ADHD are able to do some tasks for hours and hours, like playing video games or reading for pleasure.

Being diagnosed with ADD is awesome. The meds suck though.

I know, I have and am medicated for ADHD-inattentive type and can do what some psychologists call 'hyper-focus' on certain tasks--but this is more that I will stick with them despite the distractions. Everyone has inattentiveness, obsessiveness, borderline moments, etc. ADHD, as a abnormal psychology, is not just a quirk but a constellation of related symptoms. That's why the DSM-IV says there need to be persistent signs of at least six symptoms in two spheres of life to be ADHD. It's not like we stare at a wall all day letting our minds careen through our knowledge of life the universe and everything. Hyperactivity types can definitely sit down and play World of Warcraft for 12 hours, but if you look at their feet or something they never stop shaking. We inattentive types will read something we love like Game of Thrones for hours too, despite the fact that nearly every page we were chasing some flight of thought before coming back to it.
