It works in reverse though too. When some major world catastrophe occurs like lets say...a genocide in some country...the United States is expected to spearhead the humanitarian lead out of pure benevolence. Even though China has just as much interest in many of these middle eastern and African countries and is just as capable of sending relief or troops to end the hostilities, nobody ever expects them to act out of morality or humanitarianism.

Other than the carrier in the gulf, we own none of those bases. The fact we have been at war in that neighborhood for the past few years might have something to do with all those bases being there, just a thought. Hopefully we tell Israel to pack sand as far as supporting a war against Iran.
