It's almost never worth it to buy the extended protection plans that are offered by Best Buy. A quick Google search regarding the BB protection plans shows lots and lots of rip-offs.

i usually dont get them unless it's like a laptop or my kids Ipod Touch.
we got it on his because there is no control nor order in his mothers house.
one of his siblings used it as a hockey puck...BB replaced it with one of the newer ones with no hassles.
my sister is rough as hell with her laptops and has had 3 or 4 replaced...one of them they even transferred all her files for her too.
wife smashed a coffee pot...we got a whole new machine...that plan cost us $10.
something sitting on a table...cant say that i would though.
