Made me smile... Native grandmas ruining the plans of corporate America.

http://bsnorrell.blogspot.com/2012/03/lakota-arrests-underway-halting-xl.html

An action alert was sent out: "Calling all Lakota men on the Pine Ridge Reservation to come to Wanblee, South Dakota." The alert said "Pipeline trucks are being held there at the border by our Lakota Oyate, Oglala Sioux Tribal Police and State Troopers in an effort to keep them from entering our territory. Even the state troopers told the trucks they have to turn around and cannot bring their pipeline or other materials on to our reservation"

"Pipeline trucks are refusing to turn around claiming they have corporate rights that supersede any other law."
Reports from the scene say that the trucks are being allowed to pass, as Lakotas are being arrested attempting to halt the trucks from entering their sovereign territory."

"They said their office in Canada made the route with the State of South Dakota to cross the Pine Ridge rez in order to avoid paying the state of South Dakota $50,000 per truck," Debra White Plume said.

"The equipment arrived from South Korea in August. The truck drivers said they did not know they were crossing an Indian reservation and would tell their corporate office that they need to look at another route, because if they cross Indian land again they will probably run into another blockade."

Contracts need to be clearly settled and all the people involved notified about their terms and agreements before people start driving around so that this doesn't happen. I would hope that the Lakota folks would have the smarts to figure out what they should charge these folks if indeed there is some value to having them drive across their land (as in, saving taxes).

Yeah because all the deepwater rigs are great. Most of them leak, just not enough to leave giant plumes.

Oh yeah let's support tax evasion, after all cheating the govt, is the mantra of modern conservatism.

Let the common people pay taxes, corporations are too good for that, and some American citizens don't understand how they hurt themselves by supporting this immorality.
