I generally watch cable on my TV or play Xbox/playstation, then on the gameing computer I will be playing something MMO or whatever then on the old crap computer I browse the web or download files.
Just after my video card died last week I started thinking about it more, previous to this I just thought it was the GT6800 not being decent enough I hadn't really looked at the specs in forever.
I just use it to lurk here or play D2 I get bored during loading screens and need something to fiddle with. I know the new card can go to 1920x1080 easily enough.
So I get to wondering well if the card is good enough do I need the monitor as well to be able to play the video without frame skipping and stuttering.
It's not the web either because I can download the file and try and play it but it's fubar even from the HDD. I just thought maybe ACF would know if you needed both or if as stated above you would just get a warped screen.
I'll probably try and get a used screen someplace it would be a shame to lose the 4:3 ratio I really hate those bars on the side. Not sure if monitors come with the ability to stretch the image like most TV's do..
Anyway I appreciate the input I was just curious. The computer is running fine with the new card so far, when I get the ram next week it should run better then ever.
I quit using it to game around the time WoW came out I was having a hard time playing with a decent framrate I upgraded to 1gig ram and that helped a ton. Still it wasn't enough. I remember trying to play DDO at even low settings and it was killing my machine that's when I bought my 360 with one of the first HD tv's that had come out a crappy 19" prima that could barely pull off 720p.
A couple of years ago I picked up my 42" toshiba and have been happy with it ever since. It's great for playing the console games on and I do use it with my new PC sometimes to play games. Bioshock and Borderlands played great on it. Need for Speed the Run is also pretty awsome on it.
So for gameing I am set with decent equipment but this old beast is getting some love this month. Not sure I will buy a monitor I might just except the loss or if I am desperate find something to hook it up to. I just hate transfering cables all the time to change displays I'd rather set it and forget it.

I also have very little desire to spend any additional money on it. I think it might be on the verge of quitting for good. Mainboard will probably die next

I lost the PSU a couple of years ago now. Card this week so the CPU/MOBO is due.
I got very good use out of it, it's been on almost all the time for 7 years. I used to fiddle with it while playing xbox (loading screens) or during commercials.
Main reason I barely ever come back to a thread

I am mostly just here when I am not paying attention to one of the other screens. I even had that 19" set up if I wanted to have all 4 going. That is a bit to chatoic to pay attention to tho I was going a little mental.
So now I just leave it to the TV and the two computers.
I used to work in shipping so I was pretty damn bored and needed the stimulation everday after work. These days I find I just want to shut everything off at the end of the day and sleep. Working as an Admin these days it's a harder job then I ever gave any of our secrataries credit for in the past. All I do is purchasing and inventory control I don't even have the fun of answering the phone every 20 seconds.
