I learned something new about my TV tonight

I found that it had a USB input, I figured it would be fairly useless, but I plugged in my external drive just to see, and what do you know... it'll play movies, music, and I can view my pictures that are on there. I haven't tried other file types... but now I'm going to get another drive to dedicate to my movie collection.

Dont all TV's come with that now? Or just hookups so you can plug your PC straight into it.

TVs come with all kinda of useless crap now.
Network connection, old A/V connections, USB ports, SD and CF card slots, and a bunch of other stuff.

Why? If I can hook up a PC to my TV via HDMI why is that any different than a HD... I could just plug the HD into my pc and hook that up to my TV via HDMI and it would work the same way wouldnt it?

Hooking up a PC to your TV is just using the TV as a monitor, connecting a HD via usb directly to the TV and being able to watch the movies contained takes the PC out of the loop.
So I can use my laptop to talk to you freaks and watch a movie at the same time.
