While an interesting piece of drama, we humans anthropomorphize objects with reckless abandon. The jump to consciousness is more than just the assembly of parts. It takes having a spectrum of senses, the resulting dependencies, fears and satisfactions met. I think we will eventually replicate all of that in some type of artificial being, but it will be far more involved than that dramatization.
