An example of the big rip:
2 trillion years from now, all of the galaxies in our local group will have merged into one large galaxy. All other galaxies will be moving away from our super-galaxy faster than the speed of light. At this point, there will be no possible interaction with those other galaxies. A civilization advanced enough to observe the universe at this point will think that their galaxy is all there is in the universe.

Sounds familiar huh? And, it did say possible local geometry. The universe is not flat, but it's easier to do calculations if though of this way. It's easier to envision the fabric and wrinkles. If you believe all that stuff. I contend that time and space are linear.
It's good to know that you're smarter than Einstein. Gravitational lensing is a fluke. I'll defer to you on all matter of physics now.

So Cao, you think Einstein is right because he was smart? And do you think he was always right? Einstein would not have respected anyone that blindly accepted his word at face value. And, he was wrong about a lot of things and proved years later that he was wrong.

Blindly? I've studied physics. How about you?
Not to mention that the subject I mentioned, gravitational lensing, was postulated by Einstein as something that he thought would never be demonstrated.
It has since been demonstrated many years after his death.

I'm sorry, I never studied physics and since you have you obviously know much more than I ever could. I'm so sorry to have offended you such. I obviously cannot think for myself. I will now elevate you to the same level as the substitute teacher that has more knowledge in arguments than anyone here.

LOL. We're both armchair quarterbacks, and you know it.
My point is you can't just throw out a cornerstone of modern physics without any basis. If you have evidence to the contrary, by all means, write your paper and claim your Nobel prize. Make sure you post pics.
