So I made some sausage gravy with ground sausage earlier this week, and I had about a quarter of the tube left over. I put it in a ziploc bag and into the fridge.
It's been like 2 days, is that gonna be ok to use or does it go pretty quickly after it's opened?
It was brand new when I opened it.

It's fine.
Hell, it will probably still be fine 2 weeks from now.

Ground sausage usually has a freeze by date, not expiration date.
Stuff is full of preservatives, it will probably keep for months in the fridge.

It's no time soon, it was brand new the other day. I think it keeps for like 3 weeks refrigerated and longer frozen.
It was just that I had opened it that I was wondering about.
Anyway, thanks ACF, I shall cook it and hopefully not die. ~

My rule of thumb with ground sausage is, if it's not dried out and nasty looking....it's probably fresh enough to eat.

You can usually tell just by the smell if ground beef has gone bad, and the smell is usually obvious even if you've never expirenced it before.

Yeah, beef you can tell even by the color, but it's a tube of sausage in the tube with preservatives so I thought it might be different.
