The local Elks Club sponsors a wild game night with multiple raffles of guns and hunting and fishing equipment along with:

Appetizers were all types of deer sausage, bologna, hot sticks, local fresh fish, moose, grilled deer kabobs and venison chili.

Dinner was (among other things):

Pheasant Stew
Venison Meat loaf and meatballs
Roasted Goose and Bear
Rabbit in BBQ Sauce
Slow cooked Moose and Beaver
Walleye chowder
Venison Stroganoff

The best was by far the beaver followed by the bear.

All would hve been really fun except the dudes at the table behind us apparently get intestinal gas from game andcopious amounts of canned beer. Talk about raised by wolves...

Ha, I was actually being completely serious and that didn't even occur to me.

That's what happens when football season has been over for awhile and I'm not hanging out with the SO's guy friends all the time.

were you not expecting that it would be like that or something?...or did you just read the Wild Game Night advertisement or whatever and completely ignore the "wild" part? lol

they do those a few times a year here at a few churches and do door prizes and stuff. My Dad won a fairly decent crossbow at one and a nice fishing rod/reel. The last one I went to I didn't win anything, but they give away like 50+ prizes (and some of them are very nice), so you have a pretty good chance of winning something.

One of the bigger churches that does it (it's churches that do it because it gives them a little extra exposure so they can minister some more) gets pretty well-known speakers to come and do like a 20 minute speech sort of thing, which is kind of cool if you know who they are at all. They also have a lot of booths setup for companies to advertise products and they give away lots of free stuff too

sounds like fun. The one I went to last year just had catfish, so it was kind of "meh" because I get catfish all the time.

No really, it was like a very tender beef roast. The gamiest meat was really the venison - especially in ground form. And I was absolutely expecting most of this - just not the extreme flatulence and disregard for public welfare.
