personally it is heartening to see a US company booming without the need of government subsidies ... true free market supply/demand
i assume by government subsidies you mean DIRECT government subsidies right?
i have about $300k of supplies i DO NOT need (nor have room to store) that i am being forced to take because the government decided to spend money on a couple companies that are failing...we are getting the smallest shipment.
some of the stuff even violates mandatory source regulations.

how do you feel about spending taxpayer money on UNICOR supplies that prisons do not need just to keep UNICOR in operation?
millions were spent AFTER prisons stocked up on what they needed.
i cant wait to see what they do next year as many prisons ended up with a 2 year supply.
either UNICOR completely fails next year or prisons dispose of perfectly good taxpayer funded equipment/supplies.
sure UNICOR is a government business, but should they get bailed out at the cost of the taxpayer?

The prison industry is the 2nd biggest cottage industry in the US behind the military industrial complex.
States spend 2x 3x and sometimes 4x the dollars for the care of prisoners than it does per student.
