Wouldn't it be fun to buy a 3 million dollar 1741 Stradivari violin

it's kind of similar to the reason that we can't fold steel the way they did before the gun was invented. the recipe was lost. no one can make a violin as perfect as stradivarius did.
edit: it's more like an orange item.

I thought those classical string instruments were similar to wine; in that they are better with age? The process of aging the wood and playing the instrument gives it that richer tone over time...
Did he actually have a special method for creating them that we are ignorant of?

The wood was probably treated with ... whatever... and that whatever is what we don't know about and therefore can't replicate. (Also, the process of applying the lacquer..)
