Laughter is such a great way to unwind and forget about your stress. If anime does it for you, that's great. Lately I've been getting into the Graham Norton Show (been getting hooked on a lot of BBC programming). You can't tell how good it will be based on the guests either.... which I kinda like. Every show is unpredictable and can really make you laugh.

omg i've never laughed like that at an anime that had just so many violent fking deaths.
also, i LOVE graham norton. i've been watching his shows since like.. 2001 or something. like way before he got the chance to hella fail at being an american talk show host.

and i realize some people think anime is dumb which is fine. i think most tv shows and movies are dumb. each to their own. i just know that the short time i spent watching that tonight was the most relaxed i've been all day and it made me honestly laugh out loud multiple times and that is priceless considering how stressed out and grumpy i usually am.

yup! some people think i'm weird because i laugh at stuff like this. you ever watch natural born killers? i freaked out an entire room full of people because i laughed the whole way through that movie. stuff like this just makes me lol more than most of the comedy based shows do.

if you've ever seen Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus, you'll realize that this sort of thing isn't new -- laughing at excessive violence because it's so over-the-top as to be completely ridiculous.

i can't really explain it myself. some people just enjoy this sort of thing while others are either disgusted, horrified or just plain frightened by it. my favorite characters have always been the psychopaths too. the more twisted and psychopathic a character is the more i enjoy their character. same thing for bloody horror and all the crazy sh*t that went down in the last few episodes of this, it was just epic and some of the most fun i've had watching something in a while.
i think somewhere at the source of it all is i'm just a sadist. i think most people are prolly born that way and influences from society, friends, family etc all conspire to make people either afraid of those feelings or make them think they're wrong so they get suppressed or stamped out. its not socially acceptable to say "i get a thrill out of bloody violence and other peoples fear" so people shove that part of them aside until its gone. either that or i really am just completely nuts but at least i know i'm not alone lol...i know plenty of other people feel the same way about this kind of thing as Accident pointed out otherwise we wouldn't have entertainment dating back thousands of years based on it. i just think alot of people have suppressed it to "fit in" and alot of other people just won't admit it because they worry about what people think about them. personally i don't give a flying f**k what people think about me so its all good
