I did it for a couple of years back in the late 90s.
Haven't even thought about it since then...

I realize now I do not fear death. I fear my daughter will not be free when I die.

I've thought about it. I used to do Folding@Home but it runs my work laptop too hard for me to keep it going all the time. I'm afraid it will make it die faster.
It's a quad core CPU with 8 GB of RAM, but I hate having the fan run full blast on it all the time.

I've seen them pushing it pretty good on the new space shows on the science channel.

I stopped using it, because I figured the ET's have a better chance of finding us than we do of finding them...that is, if they even want to talk to us once they see the kind of crap that's been broadcast from Earth in the last 100 years or so.

I, on the other hand, prefer a command-line system 'cause i'm so hardcore
/north /north *You encounter an [Avatar of the god Set]!*
/cast sheild *sheild spell unavailable*
/csat shield *csat: unknown command*
*[Avatar of Set] beheads [Peasant]*

there's a good chance that if a radio wave broadcast was detected, that the people who sent it could be long gone. Sort of how some of the light you see are from stars that died a long time ago.
