Seems impossibly small, though, so i think im going to make the next one bigger because even with tiny newborn feet im not sure they will be big enough...

Well that's great lol, but i was making these for a real baby, so i will definitely have to go up a hook size or two to be safe. Baby has already measured so big that the due date has been moved up twice, so it's gonna be a big baby. I'd rather the booties be a bit big and they have to grow into them than too small to wear.

i've only seen a few crochet boots, but what i have seen, this is poor, stitch tightness is off and don't get me started on loops

The yarn is absolutely gorgeous, it's really soft and silky which is the main reason i chose it (what with baby skin being so sensitive and all).
As for the stitches, they're more accurate than they look in the picture, the cuff looks weird because the picture doesnt show the ribbing very well, but it looks really cute in person.
Since i am worried about the size of the baby, im going to experiment with going up a couple of hook sizes and see what i end up with because i think this size is more appropriate for a smaller baby or a preemie.

Very nice, and I love the color! Nice pale yellows are good for boys or girls.

That's what i was thinking. I know the sex of the baby (sworn to absolute secrecy, though, so i wont even tell ACF), but i figured she'll be inundated with pink or blue stuff, it would be nice to have some unisex stuff too. So i got that colour, and a lovely peppermint green. I also have a lovely sunny yellow in a different yarn that im considering, but im not sure yet. I'll see how many it goes with the hats and booties in these two colours before i plan any more. I was also thinking of making a cute bib, but again im trying not to get too far ahead of myself (im still very much a beginner!).

I have some baby yarn of the most pale yellow that I've been waiting for the right pattern to knit something.
I was at my moms a few weeks ago and she pulls out a skein of yarn to start a bootie and she had the same stuff I'd gotten.
