They did, you missed it. That same dull mindless crew that did the drab scifi (i'm sorry SyFy) channel remakes of Wizard of Oz (Tin Man), Flash Gordon, Neverland, etc also attempted a Buck Rogers remake. In it Buck was a WWI pilot or something that somehow got involved in something. The only memorable thing was Gil Gerard and Erin Grey had a brief cameo playing Buck's parents in Kansas or something. Like all of the rest of these guys shows it was dull and awful by all reports.
(Now that I think about it, I am not sure if the show ever actually made it to air or was still born. The Gil and Erin scenes are available on the internet).
