George R. Martin, 83, formerly of Chicago, and La Grange Park, passed away after a long illness related to cancer on July 22, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Joyce Martin, nee McInerney; loving father of Therese (Randy) Fox, Daniel (Carmen) Martin, James (Cyndi) Martin, Claire (Timothy) Gallagher, Loretta (Calvin Thomas) Westley, and Maureen (Nicholas Eliopulos) Martin; devoted grandfather of Rachel, David, Azalea, Kayla, Brianna, Justine, Michael George, Sarah, Alicia, Luke, Renee, Ellen, Dana, and Isabella; dear great-grandfather of Lucy Joyce; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews; loving brother-in-law of James (Karen) McInerney, and the late Judith (Gerald) Quaid, nee McInerney. Proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. Proud member of the Union League Club of Chicago, where he passed countless enjoyable hours. George was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Joseph Martin, and Elizabeth Veronica Martin, nee Hughes; by his cherished siblings, Alfred J. Martin., Jr., Mary Marino, and Elizabeth "Betty" Beatty; and by his beloved uncle George "Georgie" Hughes. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 10134 S. Longwood Dr., Chicago. Funeral Mass to follow immediately thereafter at 11 a.m., from St. Barnabas Church to Mt Olivet Cemetery, 4401 W. 111th St., Chicago.
