When you watch the clip, you can easily hear that there is a splicing being done.. they emphasis this by having two separate graphics between the splicing. There is no transcript given like in the OP.
So no, they were not "caught editing". They made it abundantly obvious they were editing, doing what they do all the time when replaying phone calls on the news.
It still is an unfortunate splicing that doesn't give the full picture of that phone call, and whether intentional or not, is irresponsible. With a sensitive issue like this including the dispatcher's question would be better. But it was one quick segment on one show, so blowing this up into a large NBC conspiracy is just retarded.
You've gone full circle, being media manipulated about media manipulation.

Nah, my character is fine, I'm just not an idiot like you. Nor did I defend it, I said it was unfortunate/irresponsible (whether purposeful or not), and that they should be more careful on sensitive issues like this. But the sensationalism in the OP article is also very bad.
1. The facts as given in the OP are 100% false. They did not display that transcript on the show.
2. News clips have a specific number of seconds they take up, hence it is even possible that it was just an innocent (albeit foolish) omission for length. The goal was a fast summary, not an informative, detailed story.
No one even took notice of this news clip until this sensationalist story ran. Even if its purposeful 'propaganda' by the editor, it is subtle/subliminal.
