Another crafty post: started a blanket this weekend.

I've always wanted a granny-square blanket, and since i have a lot of yarn scraps that could do with being used up, i decided to start one this weekend. Got the first few sewn together last night:

Cool, I like patchwork stuff, be it actual patchwork or the blankets like those that are different squares.

It varies, some is basic Red Heart (cheap 'n' cheerful), some is some nicer stuff i've bought for various projects. The nicest wool so far is the red and white one, which is this really plushy Bernat stuff i bought for a scarf. Just plain gorgeous

I grandma used to make patchwork quilts. Always been my favorite. She put a lot of love into those.

That's part of the reason i want to make this. I want to look at it and see the love and the hard work that went into it.
It also has a secondary reason. Part of my therapy is arts and crafts, and my therapist wants me to take on small crochet projects that can be completed in a short period of time (a granny square takes a couple of hours to make, tops). So im making my small squares, working towards a larger goal, which is both the blanket and my recovery in a way. So i'll always look at the blanket and remember how hard i worked.

I like blankets like that to cover up in while I'm watching TV in the winter.
