The shoes say to take it easy and only go like a mile or two the first couple times. I was out running and like "I dunno why they say that, I feel fine!!" figuring my body would let me know if it's tired or in pain, so I kept going.

Went about 4.5 miles. Had some foot soreness/pain after about the 3rd mile but nothing too bad.

Woke up yesterday and could barely walk. Lower leg muscles were tight and sore as hell. Nothing while running told me these muscles were working hard. I had to lift myself awkwardly up the stairs. Got better as the day went on but still pretty sore this morning, but I think I'll run again anyway

I labeled what muscles are absolutely sore in this picture of my legs:

I couldn't get used to walking in those shoes, when I tried them.

Can't imagine running in them.

Those legs could wrap around someone like a Boa constrictor

At least it found another muscle for you to work out

Been thinking about getting a pair of those, how do they compare to regular running shoes?

What I've heard about those shoes is that they force you to run in a way that is much better for your leg joints. The consequence is that it is a bit harder on your leg muscles until they get re-strengthened.

Rest up.

Absolutely different. Running is close to running barefoot in them. My foot lands more towards the middle than the heel, and my toe movement is longer and spread out to each toe individually. Compare that to the heel to toe movement of regular running shoes. There is little cushioning from the shoes at all, just a rubber sole to provide grip and protection.

I've barefoot ran before, and this seemed to be pretty damn close, and I didn't have to look at the ground the entire time to dodge rocks and aids needles/sandwiches.

We used to do some training only barefoot in cross country so these extra muscles that don't work so hard with shoes on get some strengthening, and you'll be able to run longer and harder because of that in the races.

Your body gets much more feedback on these so you do run in a way that actually lessens joint impact. The body doesn't get that feedback nearly as much when you land on cushions, and that can cause joint problems. We'll see, I've had knee pain on and off since freshmen year of college.
