OK, so if you dad has a brother that has kids they are your first cousins. Your kids are their first cousins once removed. When you kids had kids they are twice removed.

im pretty sure that since both she and i are related to mayflower women (of which only two survived the initial immigration) that there is a damn good chance that i AM related to my wife.
course shes spanish/mexican/irish/english and im swedish/scottish/english/irish/german so one relative in common more or less isnt really that important
