Gurkha Ancient Warrior Vintage Presidente

This is my favorite cigar, this is the only place that sells them and this is the first time they have been available in years, reasonably priced too.

They last had them in 2007 and I did a 400 mile motorcycle trip to their store when they no longer had them on their website, the owner had 4 left in his humidor, I didn't have the heart to tell him I had 11 left. http://vnboards.ign.com/acfriends/b5258/103843364/r103846502/

I was down to 2 when they came back in stock a couple months ago.

I just ordered 40 so I will share and let you guys know about these smokes.

Let me repeat this is the only place in the world you will find these, you can find Gurkha Ancient Warriors at a few other smoke shops but none of them have the Vintage (8 year aged tobacco) known as the Presidente.

Here is scale of this monster so you are prepared for the 3 hour smoke that it takes to finish it, in Golf circles it will through the first nine and well into the second.
I swear it changes flavor as you smoke it, it is divine.

edit, ok ok, before you guys go ape on me, yes there are better smokes out there but not for $6 a pop, like the $40/ea cuban Cohibas that Castro smokes.

If you have experience with Arturo Fuente's Opus X cigars, how do they compare? That is my go to stick and I have never found better. Not to say I am not open to trying something else, just curious if you have ever smoked them before.

Wow those are over $25 a pop mail order.

I can get Cuban Cohibas for that kind of mullah. (attn LE if I wanted them that is), cough, cough....

I am sure they are excellent, I don't do the full bodied ones that much, they take too much out of you, as I inhale them a little too much. Medium to full is more my style, I really like the Maduro wrappers as well.

I've smoked a real Cuban Cohiba before when I was at Cozumel, this really rich guy had them with him. Guy was inspirational; was retired and travels the world and does consulting jobs for the fun of it to keep busy and focused. Couldn't be more than just a few years into his 50s

They are not cheap and certainly nothing I enjoy on a daily basis. I have had Cubans and while some are really good smokes, I tend to prefer the Dominican sticks a bit more. As for the Opus X, I only smoke them with a nice single malt chaser as it balances the taste of the cigar and makes for a more enjoyable experience. Might give the ones you listed a try as I am always looking for another good smoke to stock in the humidor.

You guys should trade with Cuba like we do, and you could get their cigars and rum. The only 2 good things that come from Cuba.

Thanks for the tip Hyper. I'll have to give 'em a whirl.

The Olivia V series has become my go to but Gurkha as a brand has always been a favorite...

I still keep a pack of those in my truck, though I tend to chew on them more than smoke them these days.

Thanks for the tip Hyper. Got some on the way, will let you know what I think.
