You can use granny squares as pot holders if you like, but either way i made them and sewed them together, and that's pretty awesome considering that when i started i didnt think i would be able to crochet in a straight line lol

Instead of sewing them together, why not try to crochet using a half double stitch to join them?

Believe it or not you work in rounds to do it. But because you create loops to work as corners, when you pull your loop in to close the first circle, the stitches pull together into a square. The first time i did it, it blew my mind lol
