Nope, and probably never will. FTP games survive by allowing players to play free, but buy special items with real money to "enhance" their character. This is usually termed a microtransaction in the mmo community. The devs have stated that microtransactions wouldn't be possible in AC because of the way items are handled by the database.
Chances are AC will only be here as long as us hardcore lifers are still around.
