So.. after a few months, i finally found the light fixtures i was looking for and now i found awesome black back drops. So i was curious has anyone used red lights or blue lights for shots? what effect does the blue light have? i was thinking about using a green light too, to see what effect that will have. Anyone use green? thanks

I don't do portraits and I don't have any lighting other than a flash for my camera. But wouldn't the blue lights just turn things blue and the green lights just turn things green? You may want to try this question on some of the bigger sites with more people that do work with fancy lighting setups.

Agreed, the lighting I use for my portraits right now is far from fancy LoL.

well... you would think that, but in my Navy days, the red lights in the hallways of the ship would make certain shades of red disappear as far as your eyes were concerned. (if i had to get high level officers signatures at night for whatever, if they signed it in a red pen, you wouldn't be able to see it at all)
so with that, i was curious if blues would shade things away as well as a green... I guess i'll just have to try it out. Thanks guys.

Red also hides acne and skin problems. Which is the reason a lot of strip clubs use heavy red lighting.
I would imagine blue would take a lot of the color out of people's appearance. Make them appear more pasty and such.
Green. No guesses for that one...
