This article was in The Daily Mail today (horrible newspaper but often has some great articles about photographers) and is worth a look, the photos are simply stunning and the set up is inspired...

I would guess that the bats swoop in to pick insects off the surface of the pond, and perhaps to take a drink, though that seems too badly inefficient to be a good reason.

OMG....I am such a moron! I just realized those are leader lines and not some kind of string or something going across the pond. That's why I wondered how the hell the bat could even manage to get close enough to the water for a pic! LOL
