my god this is stupid, turbine has had asherons call now for years...... meanwhile they release dungeons and dragons online..... charge for it at first then make it free. then they make LoTR online.... charge for it for awhile then make it free.... why cant they do the same for asheron's call????????????????? -.-

They posted on the official AC forums shortly after the announcement about LOTRO that their original idea was to have AC go f2p first before DDO or LOTRO but as they looked into it it would take a significant amount of work to make a f2p model work with the AC code.
They didn't say it would never happen, but said it won't be happening any time soon and wouldn't be possible without a huge investment of dev time.

Not to mention most people end up spending more on a game when it is F2P then when it was a sub game. At least with Turbine they kept the sub option, and it really is the only smart way to go on their games.
