HP has finally made a decision on what to do with WebOS. They will continue to develop for it, but will also make it open source so that others can also contribute to the development of WebOS as well.
Unfortunately still no new hardware planned for it.

If it goes open source though, and is popular, others will make hardware I'm sure.

So long as it is truly open source and not some half-assed attempt, I think that might be the smartest thing that HP leadership has done in the last few years.

Yeah if they make the code open source but then try to lockdown any devices that use it, or something half assed, then that would be lame and it will fail.
