Nobody is going to beat Obama but Ron Paul, the hard left, the neoconservative war mongers and corporatists know this, which is why they are most vocal against Paul. Romney will be torn to shreds and he won't get the turn out that he needs.

Ron Paul wouldnt beat Obama
The rule is you have to appeal to the extremists in the primaries and then go more moderate in the election. For this challenge Romney is much better equipped.
Romney is an establishment Republican. At the most the tea party types will get a VP that they like
The problem with the VP is like with Teddy Roosevelt if something does happen to the president you then get a radical in his place

The only reason is because most people won't vote for him because they don't feel he is a viable candidate and thusly a wasted vote.
However if he actually got the nomination - he'd slaughter Obama.

Ron Paul would crush Obama in debates and then in the election. The only people who are going to turn out for Romney are blind partisans, media lemmings and the Anybody But Obama crowd.
Anyone who has woken up in the last few years and done their homework would sooner slit their wrist than vote for another complete fraud.

Looks like another year of throwing my vote toward Bob Barr. Well, IF he's the libertarian candidate, that is. If not, I guess I'll just go with whatever one they pick.
