I see Iran as an internet troll who is really only interested in the conflict with the US because it helps them stir up their own people. I think the US is better served backing off while simply stating that if Iran crosses the line(tries to take over the shiping lanes, attacks someone, harbors terrorists, etc) then the wrath of the US will be quick and severe.
Let others continue the dialogue.

There will be some dems who line up to support it, but true liberals will resist it at every turn. Most liberals would love to have the oil problem go away completely, but it's hard to get democrats and republicans onboard with renewables when the fossil fuels pay for so many of their election campaigns.
Guess we'll just have to keep bleeding red to keep getting our black gold.
