I remember it from four years ago. I honestly didn't care then and I don't care now. Depending on the carrier and number of stops/season it was likely a more pleasant trip for the dog than the average airliner.

This. It's no worse than riding with your dog in the bed of a pickup truck as long as you have a wind guard, which they did (he claims).
There are reasons I won't vote for Romney. This ain't one of them.
