Wikpedia has its blackout today in protest over SOPA, which is cool, because SOPA sucks.

That said, if you want to read something on Wikipedia today, just turn off your Javascript. It works just fine with Javascript off and the blackout magically goes away.

Yeah, I was wondering if I slept thru the day they were supposed to be blacked out or something. Visited the site today a few times with no problems.

By the way, you can also hack Variety doing this. They have a 'paywall' which only allows you to read a few articles, before this window comes up and says "you must pay us $120310231 a year to read more!".

Just turning off Javascript makes that go away and can read all the articles you want. This isn't really a hack, as it's just stupid that they implemented it that way.

Developers need to learn that security should not be dependent upon something that's under the control of the client.
