I'm picking this up in a Hermetic meditation on the first Arcanum of the Tarot, the Mage.
The key to understanding is concentration without effort (i.e. listening in calm to silence).
There are two types of concentration, interested and disinterested. Interested concentration is marked by dominating passions, attachments and obsessions. For example, if you observe a glutton preparing his meal you will see a remarkable degree of concentration. Disinterested concentration is a will free of enslaving passions, attachments and obsessions.
This is what Jesus means by: "My yoke is easy. My burden light."
In yoga the first arcanum of yoga is Yoga citta vritti nirodha. Yoga is the suppression of oscillations of the mental substance.
