I'd think a limited duration livable environment would be neutral in the war between religious thinkers and non religious thinkers. You can certainly make the argument that god knew how much fuel to put in the sun before he lit it with his cigarette lighter.

edit: actually I think we only have like one billion years before the whole earth is supposed to go over 100 degrees all over, the the water evaporation begins.
